Watching or have you watched the solar eclipse?

It's happening here in 25 minutes. I'm holding my phone over my shoulder to take pictures.....

We are experiencing a partial eclipse at the moment. It looks very eerie outside....kinda "Halloween-ish".

We had about a 70% partial eclipse here. Sun was behind a big cloud but briefly passed over a less dense area of the cloud and we were able to see it without special glasses for a couple seconds.

Ben, the chickens go to roost during an eclipse ;-)

I looked at it when iy was almost total! with a welding hood. Amazing! The light was very eerie and the wind calmed down Glad I enjoyed it!

Hate to burst you bubble (or retinas) but welding helmets offer no protection during an eclipse. But you said you looked while the sun was covered. You should be okay.....

My bubble is not burst but a welding helmet of over 12 is within the range of safety!
    Ours was!

So, Lester Holt does not know what he's reporting about? Good for you. It takes days for the vision to start showing symptoms. Keep us posted.....

I looked at it at times thru a welding helmet. That's the only way to go . That glass is very dark. Anyway, I saw it covering 1/4 of the sun......then  covering 1/2 of the sun, but didn't see the 80 %  that we were supposed to get. It got a little dusky here, but not as dark as it got in 1959 when I was 10 yrs old. Good practice for when  the  eclipse comes around again in 2024. I should still be around then if I don't get cancer again, b/c the life expectancy for a woman is now 82. It's 78 for a man.

Welding glass does NOT offer near enough protection. Learned this on a special news report. Sorry

Mycatsmom continues to post here on akaQA. It seems here sight is not waning since after using her welding helmet to watch the eclipse. LOL

I listened to them talk about it on the radio while I was driving, but did not look up.

Yes we watched it on the television over here, live from the USA.

I went to the Weslyan University Observatory to watch the eclipse. It was a partial eclipse, but it was awesome just the same. You could feel the temperature change. There was an energy that waxed and waned, and since then I have felt a goodness I've not felt in some time.
