I have hardwood throughout this home.  The flooring is fir and over 100 years old.  I use Dawn and bleach.  That is it.  I don't have any stains that stick, except for the one upstairs in my son's bedroom where a child 50 years ago set fire to his dresser.  ... oddly that really did happen.  He also stuck massive tacks into the flooring that are still there.  Every once in a while a family member comes by and gives us a bit more history.  They had 13 children.  ... One had to go Rogue :)

He actually is a bit odd to this day.  We met him about five years ago when his children were out for Halloween in this neighbourhood.   The man admitted to setting fire to this house.  Apparently it wont burn down. .... Good old girl.

The fire stain is the only stain on my floors.  Bleach and Dawn works and I can tell you, kids run through this glorious old bird each and every day.  Kids make a big fat mess.

my cat has peeing problems. When I had a carpet on my floor, she peed on it and then I had the carpet taken up which is why there are a few stains on the wood. Why doesn't your bleach ----bleach out the color of your floor ? Doesn't water stain the floor too ? .......or don't you put water in the Dawn and bleach ?

I use water Dawn and bleach. The unfortunate thing is the cat peeing on your floors. ... I don't think you can fix that. I have fir and you have oak. I am fairly certain those stains are stuck. Carpet over hardwood is a bad idea with a pet that just doesn't get it. :( Sorry.
I wash my floors almost every day. I do throw a bit of oil of oregano into the mix for fleas... just in case.
The ammonia of the urine has ruined your hardwood.

the previous owner of my house put the carpet over the hardwood floor......possibly b/c her son had seizures. They had a dog that was trained to let them know when their son was going to have a seizure . I didn't know this cat was going to have peeing problems when I took her in.My first two cats always used the litter box.
Thanks for answering my question, Fishie

I am sorry about your floors. When my last rescue cat died I told myself that I have had enough.

There is only so much money that I am going to make in my life time. My friend's dog down the street basically ate a door in their house this week. They could leave the door hanging, but that would be strange .... He is a wonderful dog that suffers with anxiety attacks every once in a while.

Hollow core doors are not the way to go. A big dog can destroy them in no time flat.

I had a customer who came in ... kind of in shock one day, "My dog ate my couch." He actually was not the only customer who said that. We had a customer that actually bought second hand couches for his dog to destroy. No word of a lie. A great big, very spoiled Rottweiler. The man bought two stuffed ducks a week for this dog. The couches and the ducks made his dog happy. The man was eventually arrested for selling scams to senior citizens. I never did find out what happened to his couch eating dog. The man was on the six o'clock news... sadly his dog was not.

People with animals as family members are generally hilarious. ... I own two Guinea Pigs. One of which wants to kill the other. ... These are not the most unusual pets I have owned. My Chinchillas were a true hoot. One ate electrical cords while plugged in and thought it was fun while his brother and my cat named after a sail boat looked on.

    .... Ha!

No cage can keep a Chinchilla in. They will escape. In retrospect, I should have named the Chinchilla Jim Morrison. His name was Licorice. My daughters named him. He was grey not black. I don't know what the heck they were thinking as neither one of them liked the taste of licorice. ... I went with the flow. The other one was named Ebony... he was also grey. I won't even tell you what they named the Rabbit. I am certain it was the only Rabbit in the world with that name.

You two are a hoot and I appreciate that. :)
