in a big keepsake envelope of my son's from 1994. I kept each son's cards, awards, photos, etc. in a large envelope, on an annual basis. I'm going through the envelopes to weed out stuff and give each his stuff (and when I'm done, the car should finally have a space in the garage).
It never occurred to me to keep it for myself, and he'll be over to walk the dog and collect his windfall.
Would you have considered keeping the money?

From my own kids money? No way would I think of keeping it! After working in a casino I know not to grab the money and run! The last money I found and kept was a 20 Dollar bill I found at a curb on the street! That was 30 years ago! I found a purse in the parking lot of a grocery store not long ago and was taking it to the desk at the store when a lady stopped her car and claimed it! I gave it to her! Basically I feel people are honest! But I know they are NOT!

Surely, I might have considered it, knowing that no one would know about the 'little windfall', from some 23 years ago. However, I would have difficulty in dealing with my guilty conscience if I were to keep it for myself. It would definitely go to its rightful owner.

I know a person who found a wallet filled with money. I asked him if he counted it. He said "Of course". I asked him if he had thought about keeping it. He said, "Of course." He added that he just couldn't do it (even though I knew that he was struggling financially). I think he gave an honest answer because I'm guessing that many would consider it (though maybe only for a few seconds).....and just not admit it.
No Bob,not if i knew who owned it..the law of finders keepers still does exist, you find a 2 bob piece you are not gonna run around the country asking if someone lost a 2 bob piece..now if i found a bag with $10,000 in it,i reckon i would hand it in to the cops pretty darn quick, because if the mafia own it,they might ask me for it..best to give it to the cops..>>>>>>>><<<<<<..

for me, absolutely not. over the years I have found several purses and a few wallets. one wallet had in addition to credit cards and a few dollars, had a diamond ring. on two occasions I took it to the address on the driver's license. I found a few purses people had left behind on Amtrack train, when I was commuting to San Francisco every day. I always called them and gave back. I think some of that gave me good karma. I have dropped money on the ground and go back and it's still there. Don't get me wrong, I have lost some things and did not get them back, but I have good fortune mostly.
