Hoarding is a very sad sickness. It ranges from keeping some things which one can not bear to part with to keeping everything you can get your hands on. Two years ago I helped my children clean out their mother's house while she was on an extended stay in the hospital. They had told me how bad it was, but I was in total shock when I entered my former home. We rented a huge dumpster but still didn't have room for all of it. Sadly, it is back in the same condition today.

It must be heart breaking to see someone in that situation. I've only seen it on tv and it's easy to believe that it is a mental illness. They are tortured souls for sure. :(

My children....Their mother's house? Wouldn't that be YOU?

JOHN23: Maybe you should read it again. Children have one male and one female parent. Last time I looked, I was not their mother!

Not quite a horder, but i do not like to throw away something that i think i might find a use for later on..(maybe half a horder)..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<..

    I don't like clutter.

Pictures like this bursting house, drive me back to do some more cleaning!

That's where I used to live before I started hoarding.

    No way.

I've got A LOT of STUFF. I'm trying to weed through and am getting a  lot of clothes and household items to church, Goodwill, and The Cancer Store - no, they don't sell cancer.

Most of it is photos, books, music, and videos. I'll get through it. Hoarder? No.senti-mental? Yep

    "...don't sell cancer". :)

There's a difference between being a collector, a clutterer and a hoarder. Yes, hoarding is a sickness, b/c they put everything they can get their hands on ( including about 16 cats or dogs ) in their house. There's not even a path to walk thru in their house. There's barely a place for them to sleep. They can't use the kitchen b/c it's filled from the floor to the ceiling with junk. Some people have been found dead under all their junk.

:-) We get the hoarder picture, MCM. Are YOU a hoarder is the question.

I am to an extent. I find something that interest me and I collect. Like ring tabs that I recently gave away, ut I get over each collection and do away with it, it just collects dust…...
