That is an awfully long time to wait, I was thinking if it could have anything to do with your father serving in a Commando Regiment. It was only a thought, but in any case it is a sad state of affairs. You have my sympathy.
I have heard there are some "State secrets" that have been mothballed for 100 years because of their sensitivity, perhaps we may get them a little earlier, my late Mother always said he didn't speak about things he did during the war, only spoke about places he'd been, all over Europe and Africa it seemed.

My Dad was one of the first Commando Regiment, only got one boxing medal for 9 years service, woweee, I will find out eventually.
