Sad indeed but what often happens with depressed people is that they hide away. Unless they have someone who is very close to them and keeping in touch on a regular basis, it will be a shock when they take their own life. This is the case in many suicides, not just veterans.

You are spot on regarding a person close noticeing the problem,,i had a pretty down time some time back,,but could not fool the wife though..>>>>>><<<<<<<<..
Post partum was bad after my first child was born. I told Mr. Wonderful to get me help if I crashed after the second appeared a year later
Probably better veteran services and regular appointments for evaluation of PTSD, Depression, Anxiety...preventative care.

Way better than nothing. Regularly scheduled checkups, support groups, proper medication, maybe even therapist assigned to vet who keeps "tabs" via home visits and phone calls..
