Cited for running a red light. I knew how fast I was going and where I was when the light changed to yellow, and, almost immediately, red. I did multiple stopwatch tests on how fast the light went from green to red (less than 3 seconds). I learned from CHP it would take 150 feet to bring my vehicle to a stop.....slamming the brakes. I was less than 100 feet from the intersection when the light changed.
Armed with my resources and research, I made an appointment to appear before the judge in court. He dismissed the charges.
Do your homework. No time for self righteous indignation. You said you couldn't walk a straight line cold sober, and your breath was "fruity" from acidoketosis (?), AND your conversation was not what one would have expected. It sounds like you made a dubious impression.
C'mon, jhharlan, what SHOULD have been done with the scenario you explained?

I was called down out of the treeline on a Mountain in the Rockies by a couple of RCMP when I was a kid living in those woods. I left my backpack stashed up there and came on down! They told me to get in the back and drove 75 frikkin miles to Valemount BC where they put me in a cage. While one of the cops was grilling me as to 'where was my buddy?" [btw I was alone]
I should mention that I had hacked all my hair off short with a buck knife so I may have resembled ... a boy!So the commander comes in and asks "What'd she do?" and the other 2 coppers were like "She who?" and that's when the boss pointed out that I was a girl! LMBO
They let me go ... they were looking for the 2 stupid idiot boys that had attempted to rob this little middle of nowhere cafe' owned by 2 elderly folks [man and wife] and I had chanced upon this robbery in progress when I walked in so I jumped on the guy with the rifle and disarmed him and knocked him in the face with the butt end of it and gave it to the old man to hold him there while I went into the back kitchen because the other little creep was screaming at this old woman to cook him some food while he held a rifle on her. What a putz! So I snuck up behind him and just grabbed the damn gun... he fled out the back door!!
She called the cops but not before I begged them NOT to mention me because I was just trying to live my life in peace and I needed my job [pumping gas at Avola Esso] and they didn't mention me but I'm sure the cops were stymied as to how that old man overpowered that stupid punk. They were all of about 15 or 16 years old.Punks.
Anyhow the cops were compelled to release me but they would not give me a lift back to that mountain and it was getting dark... so they let me go and watched me as I walked back into the woods on a well packed wildlife trail. The one cop yelled out "Where are you going?" and I said "Back to my pack you idiots!!" and I walked all bloody night through the wild mountains to make it back to my pack the next afternoon.
I never heard nor saw a single creature in all that way.
Advice : When picked up for a false arrest just keep your mouth shut and do as they say.
