I'm hurting. Ow. No, I wasn't drunk and tested the very same. Their mistake. They gave me a ride home at 1:30a.

It is illegal to operate a car on the road if you don't own insurance where I live.
I hope you are ok. As CB has said, "My thoughts are with you."

It's illegal in California, also, but there are unlicensed, suspended license, and uninsured clogging every path.
That is disrespectful not only to the law, to the tax paying people, to those who are voted in legally and the very fact that the United States of America is actually set up to be a grand and wonderful society. No one should have the right to put others at risk which is what they are doing driving around without proper insurance.
I could go on but, I am now in a great big discussion about pancakes. Someone under five feet tall has discovered that I found an amazing deal on organic blueberries yesterday :) Ha!

I had insurance, she did not but they let her go as "I was drunk". Turned out to be a mistake costing a lot of time and humiliation. I had not been drinking. Test proved that to be do. They F'd" up.....
This is a horrible situation for you, jhharlan. I hope you will get the police report of the accident and proceed carefully. If you were cited, deal with it. If the other driver was not cited for not having insurance, find out why.
If she was cited for causing the accident, sue her for damages.
I doubt the police questioned your sobriety for no good reason, so find out what you said or did that made them detain you.
THEN, when you have all the information, make a decision on the facts of the case as to whether or not they "F'd up".

I can't walk a straight line sober or otherwise. I was in, and pardon my spelling, ketoacidosius, I was spilling ketones. This makes your breath rather fuity or as if you'd been drinking. And I was gregarious, talking to all and not crying. My personality......I didn't freak out at all. Just told all who'd listen my car had only 75 thousand on it in 23 years. I got sympathy.
OK, so maybe, considering all that, a reasonable conclusion. Now find out about the other stuff!
One step at a time, fish? I hadn’t has a drink, was on my way to buy some booze tough. I’ve had two drinks since my release. Where of I go for my police report that everybody is requesting? I doubt I’ll get the original because they all thought I was out of my mind. Should have told them I was friends with you!
@ Julie;
OK. I thought you may be able to sort things out. I guess you can't. Sorry.
We have a thing called ICBC and insurance companies. Usually there is someone to call with a phone number attached.

jhharlan, you go to the police department to get the report. It could cost $25 or more, but likely not.
Your prejudiced attitude toward authority is fairly obvious, as you seem to expect them to lie in the report. All the more reason to take action to find out what's been reported. Who was cited, if anyone?

And, don't you receive a card with the police person's name, contact number and incident number?

We can sue in civil or small claims. A judgment isn't a guarantee of payment, though...and there is no one to help you but yourself.
I was in court once when the judge suspended a man's license. I watched the man leave court, get into his car, and drive away. Speechless.
You've already been on "The Price is Right". There are court t.v. shows that invite litigants to appear on their shows. In NYC, there are people working for them, who peruse the cases already filed in Small Claims Court. I've been contacted by a few a them. If you win a money judgment, the show pays you...guaranteed. Who knows...you might be on youtube and go viral!
@Bob. Same thing happens here. There are many drivers on our roads that drive with suspended licences and no insurance.
Digger, I'd like to toss them all in a big cow pen.
Clonge, I did sue someone for misrepresenting tires on a motor home. Tires exploded 100 miles up the road, 7 years old. I got a request for The People's Court, but too late to respond. The folks paid for all new tires within the 30 day court order. Unusual for these parts.

Really Diggity-Digs? My ex-husband was in a bit of a fender bender with an uninsured driver, but that happened on the Island. Weird things happen over there, which is part of it's charm. Uninsured drivers are few and far between here... 'suspended licence' is not as rare. Restricted licences are common place.
