my stand mixer is coming out of the box for this, it looks that good.

That was the flavor of every birthday cake I had as a child....with nuts. Mom said everyone liked banana nut cake

All the allergies nowadays is pretty crazy. Last year a friend spent over $5000 removing trees and bushes from her yard because of allergies. She wrote a neighbor asking him to cut back his orange trees, and she spent many a night on my couch because her own house made her throat burn.

I wonder why my two pre-diabetic friends have both been told, each by a different doctor, that it's not just sugar but other things, such as pasta. They are both having trouble adjusting but do not want to end up on medication.

They should maybe talk to a specialist, if they've not already. There are many factors, for sure. I had gestational diabetes and am at risk of becoming diabetic. Even barbecued flavor potato chips can affect you!

For me, it's mostly an issue of wanting too much too often. I quit buying popcorn and chips and soda for home. Snack on almonds.

It sounds scrumptious, but I'm a diabetic. It's rough not being able to eat chocolate and caramel and all those wonderful taste treats that makes living worth while.

This cake is full of sugar, white and brown, AND a syrup.. :-( and 5 eggs + 3 sticks of butter. The meringue buttercream has 9 egg whites an 6 cubes of unsalted butter. It's intimidating just reading the ingredient list!

MCM, I've been insulin dependant for 40 years! The one rule of thumb I do follow is eat what you want and take a shot if need be. You must be Type II. I'd say if it enhances your life a little, live a little.

At 49 years old, I'm embarrassed to admit that I love cake frosting. I seldom eat cake, maybe three or four times per year, but when I do eat cake, I eat all around the filling so my last couple of bites are mainly gloopy frosting which I enjoy chasing down with some ice cold milk.
