8 year old child dies of scurvy.

Boy was home-schooled, never saw a doctor or social worker. Parents unemployed weird beards. There is no checking system in UK for home schooled kids; should there be ?

Not allowed in Scotland without supervision, the current pig in charge of GB was fed in the troughs of the poors blood, and he still drinks it.

Give the kid a few pints of lager & lime, should help.

Yes of course there should be,even though I,D,S, LEFT school with no qulifications, and is now a Honable M,P,Living in a luxury rent free house,

In this day and age there should be no room for ignorance nor stupidity.

How unbelievable that in this day and age anyone could get scurvy.  Vitamin C is in everything we can put in our mouths,  were they starving him, too?

Yes, there should be some sort of registration and required curriculum for home-schooled children. Whether that includes micro-managing their lives aside from that, I don't think so...friends or neighbors have a moral obligation to report suspicions and can do so anonymously.

Who wants "the authorities" rummaging in your refrigerator and demanding a visit to the doctor be made? Occasions like this can open the door to more government encroachment on our private lives. They shouldn't

Apparently the mother had been a teacher, so perhaps teachers need more education.
