Where do the friendliest people live?

Just had breakfast with a friend from Austin, Texas and he commented a couple of times about the friendliness of Austin, especially in comparison to "here".  When Julie and I have traveled together, she was quick to speak to anyone and everyone, as friendly and outgoing a person as you will ever encounter, pretty much confirming my other friend's assessment of people from Austin.

The Folk in the west Highlands of Scotland, rural Sweden, Norway, Holland, France..... and here in Aus are very warm, welcoming and friendly. In my experience it is anywhere where the rat race is far far away ;-)

its been a while, that's why my comment ended up here :-/

And the rest of your life trying to understand what they are saying. LOL. -- Denmark is quite possible as Queen Mary is from Tasmania. :)

Yep, us Scottish folk don't want to understand what anyone wants to understand.;)

It might take a minute or two to figure you guys out,but it would take a year or two to figure your language out Roy..:):):)>>>>>>>><<<<<<<..

I have to agree that Texans are the friendliest people. When my aunt and I used to travel from town to town we would wave at every person who passed us by on the highway and 9 out of 10 would wave back at us. When I moved to Scotland I waved and said hello to every person I walked passed but most people didn't see me because they avert their eyes.   I try to start up conversations with the cashiers in the shops and they are not interested. People here think I'm strange because I'm so friendly but most of them are a bunch of rude f--ks!

I think I do, Kent. LOL

Used to be Austin, TX but we’ve had so many “foreigners” move here (tripling our population) that it’s a mixed bag and not as nice as it used to be. Our license plates use to read: TEXAS the friendly state…..

Do you live anywhere near Kilrush, County Clare
    sunnyB

No I live in Essex England, but I have visited Ireland, and I found the Irish to be the friendliest people I've met.
    bulletman

SunnyB, thats what my wife said, and she said it is an incredibly Green, any place would be green compared to dry Australia.
    sunnyB

Yes it's a lovely place , and it's just like going back to the 1950s. You can go to the local shop fill up with petrol outside, leave your wife doing the shopping in the front of the shop, while you go out the back to the bar and have a pint of Guinness.

Hardly. Try being pleasant in France! Many of the French are just plain obnoxious and rude.

Of the places i have travelled in the world Bob,i can honestly say i have not met anybody i was disappointed with and that includes France.however quite a few years age we went to Oahu in the Hawaiian islands,i was very disappointed with 2 separate tourists that were Japanese,,very very arrogant the both of them.though i admit they were not arrogant to Venny and me personally,,and we will be back in France on the 25th of april 2017 where we will be attending an Anzac memorial that the French put on for soldiers of the Anzac..>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..i will let you know how it turns out Bob..
    Bob/PKB

    Have a great trip!

I've heard of  Southern Hospitality. Maybe Texas falls into that category, even tho it's in the Southwest.
