terry, ( 1 ) make sure to NOT wrap her birthday present in Christmas paper. I 've never yet had a birthday present wrapped in birthday wrapping paper. And
(2.) Don't put her birthday present under the tree. and
(3) Don't give her one present and say, " This is for your birthday and Christmas both "

LOL MCM I'll agree with you on number 3. I have a July Bday so I wouldn't know how it feels to get birthday gifts and Christmas gifts combined as one but I don't think I would like it. But having a birthday gift placed underneath a Christmas tree as long as the gift was specified it is a birthday gift (and wrapped in birthday paper) would make it more special for me, I think. My mom was born on December 13th and I've never heard her complaining about receiving less gifts with her birthday being so close to Christmas but my uncle was born on Christmas day so he used to complain a lot.
Terry you are on the road to wisdom when you remember your wife's birthday, wedding anniversary, Valentines day etc. :))

C B , they never wrapped my birthday gifts in birthday paper. I didn't even know there was birthday wrapping paper til I was in my 40s. My aunt would wrap my b/day gifts in Christmas paper and send them to me and my mom would put them under the tree with other presents wrapped in Christmas paper. My mom and my brother too, would wrap my b/day gifts in Chris paper. And my aunt and my bro were both famous for saying........" I'm giving you one present for your b/day and Christmas both. "
I'd get all excited thinking it must be something really big and it wasn't that big of a deal after all.

Wow MCM you seriously Never knew there was other wrapping paper besides Christmas paper until you were in your 40's? Does this mean that when you shopped for a birthday gift for a family member, neighbour, husband, friend or co-worker up into the time you were in your 40's you wrapped all their gifts in Christmas paper because Christmas paper was all you could find in the stores no matter what time of the year? Are you from Hooterville?
I think somebody needs to get out of the boat sailing down "denial" and check into some anger therapy. I'm sure a good therapist can get it all wrapped up in a nice package with a big bow (no telling what kind of paper, though).

Childhood being so far in the past, I wonder why some just keep re-hashing on a daily basis. Annoying yet sad.
One can wallow in self-pity (which is worse than never bathing), or climb out of the refuse and move along. Personally, I can only take so much of a one-woman pity party.....then I have to go shopping! (I walk to the grocer, pharmacist, bank...it helps)

Yep. I walk everyday too. And while I'm doing it, I DON'T re-hash my childhood. Mine, along with many I know, wasn't great either. That was then...this is now. (But we're preaching to the choir.)
