I don't particularly like that he immediately revoked his allegiance. It seems quite underhanded, sneaky, and unpatriotic, very self-serving and dissident-ish. For some reason, it resonates of our pledge of allegiance, which is not a promise to defend the flag itself, but the concepts it represents.

He told the judge ahead of time, that he was going to object. Of course, we MUST be "nice and compassionate towards all". Had I been the judge, I would have suggested that he seriously reconsider his decision to become a Canadian citizen but then, I'm NOT nice and compassionate towards all.
I would have shown him the door and asked him to leave. I like to think I can function in "grey", but I find I'm becoming more "black and white" about a lot of things.
I suppose our good naturedness has been taken advantage of one time too often, or we've reached our personal limit of what we can tolerate.
It's disconcerting to know that the "bad guys" are now everywhere and that they seem to believe that killing other people is the answer to fixing their personal unhappiness.
It's more than the killings, Ducky. It seems like I'm expected to accept, tolerate, support, and/or embrace thing that are morally unacceptable to me or be ostracized.
Yep. More and more people are "accepting" situations that, not so long ago, were considered immoral. It's that loving, kind, PC world that we live in. We are all just so very nice! Ugh.
I think people are taking advantage of Free countries! Our America is the greatest land of all! To me if you don't like the rules get your A$$ out! You can't say this stuff everywhere! Love it or LEAVE it!
It's even more than that, clu. There are just a lot of things going on that probably shouldn't be. "We" are being antagonized into accepting as "politically correct" almost anything a squeaky wheel squeaks about, and some things, without even close examination, aren't really good things. I'm not going to elaborate on what I think, nor should anyone ask or assume to know.

I don't understand what being American has to do with understanding this story. It happens around the world including the U.S.A.....regularly. This is just, yet again, another example.
Perhaps I'm just dull witted but anything having to do with the royalty is just so much fairy tale to me. They just don't influence me personally. I don't get the worship, am I making sense?

There is a man who just became a Canadian citizen and immediately thereafter, began to criticize the country of his new citizenship! That just seems like normal behavior? I personally think that it is disrespectful. I cannot imagine going to another country, becoming a citizen and then mouthing off about what I don't like about that country. IT'S DISRESPECTFUL.
