Yesterday,  check up and xray,  that was it. Cost £18 for 10 minutes  visit.

2 weeks ago. Had stitches removed that were input after an implant. ""

Implants. Ugly little word. Wait at least 6 months before initiating teeth. They can, will, and do fail. But don't let my own bad experience sway you....

This is my 4th one. I've had the others for more than 3 years, No problems. My dentist is fantastic, and will know when the time is right to finish the job (unless he has to buy his wife a diamond ring soon), in which case, the "right time" goes out the window!

I really like my dentist but it's personal rather than professional. I've had 5 implants fail, one at a time, and it's very, very painful. I'm so paranoid now I'm pathetic....

That's outrageous! When you "come down" to it, what's more important, your friendship or your health? Absent some underlying health issue, they should not fail. I know that if it was me, I'd contact a dental malpractice attorney. There was slight pain while I was in the chair, and that was it. I never had to take a pain killer. Even the novacaine is administered with a vibrating instrument, so the needle is hardly felt. Oh yeah...it was painful when I went to pay the office manager. He said "Twenty-one seventy-five." I gave him a twenty and two singles and asked for a quarter. He said "No, that's TWO THOUSAND, ONE-HUNDRED SEVENTY-FIVE" with a big grin!

Julie, don't you have health issues that might cause the implant process to be unsuccessful?
    jhharlan

I am and was a diabetic. A healthy one. Never got infections, not even allergic to mosquito bites. I smoke and that's why MJ won't let me have more surgery though BOTH dentist don't think smoking is a factor.....

It could be that you have been missing teeth for an extended period. I've read a little about what may cause an implant to fail. Didn't you have some issues with bone density, too?
    jhharlan

I had no missing teeth to begin with and as far as density goes, she had to add cadaver bone. Should have worked.....

You had to have teeth pulled so you could get implants?

Late September was my 6 month checkup.  No cavities or broken fillings, for a change.  Got out of there with a good cleaning, a new toothbrush, floss, and a little tube of toothpaste.

@jh...I got that "3 min. ago thing" a few days ago but then, it corrected itself.

Odd....I'm sure I posted a whole answer, but when I saw Julie's comment, I posted a whole answer again...and added the gorgeous smile. ????

Why, it was just last week....another check up for my dislocated jaw and the guard that I am wearing. It was my 5th appointment since it happened, 2 months ago today.

How did it go? Well, instead of having to wear this guard for "up to 3 months" (that would be Dec. 21st), I now have to wear it for 5 months....until mid February! My jaw is still dislocated, not healing the way it should and the next step might be a different kind of guard to wear for another 3-5 months. That will be a full day in the dentist's office and thousands of dollars. Ugh. Surgery on the jaw is the next option but that won't be happening....too controversial from all that I've read.

The funny thing is, I must wear this guard all the time (day and night) with the exception of eating and I've actually gotten used to it. I have little pain anymore and my biggest problem is that it is difficult to say any words with "S". Oh shucks!    :)

That is my long, drawn out story in answer to your simple question. How did you like it?    LOL!!

P.S. How did it happen? My jaw had been grinding for about 5 days, I yawned and it snapped out of place. CRRRACK!!!

There is no comparing your story except in money. Try 65? And my advice? Don't get bored!

    Dang. Sorry it's taking its time to heal :>{

Dentist is sending me for an MRI to find out why it's not healing.
    Bob/PKB

Hope it is something easily remedied!

My concern is that it may not be. I have to be very careful while I'm eating or it pops out of joint. Ouch. No steak or popcorn or stuff like that.

Shoot, two of MY favorites. My jaw first locked up when I was chewing gum and I was in my teens. The chiropractor adjusted my jaw about 2 months ago and it is still in place....after 40 + years.

If this guard process doesn't work, I'll likely try a chiropractor next. I sure won't allow surgery. Gum chewing is a bad, bad thing when you have TMJ. Didn't know I had such a condition and always chewed gum at the hockey games. :)

I went last year as a tooth had fallen out of my denture which was  supposed to last at least 7 years!  My first dentures lasted 30 years! Why  after 2 years this one is SH%%? "Well this just happens" Right! Thousands of bucks and (OOPS!)happens!  They fixed it but why so shoddy treatment in the first place?

    jhharlan

Oh, I'm about to have mine realigned after 2 years. They've cost me thousands and thousands and still use LOTS of short acting adhesives. I thought dentures would fit to be barely noticed. Ha!

6 months ago. going one more time before 2015 is out.
