Challenge to the "Regulars"
The challenge: Try to post at least one question per week for us to give some serious thought or research to answer. No "how to install" or "point A to point B", etc.
It will keep us going and might be fun...
The reward? MORE KARMA POINTS!!!! NOW I know I've got your attention. WOOT WOOT
G'day MsBob, do you mean questions like 'What was the colour was your hair when you were 20 years old or 'What colour is it now!' LOL. --- great suggestion on your part.:)

What do you do with old art work when you no longer want it? I don't want to throw it out. I'm tired of some of them. Some were gifts. Some no longer match the room. I don't want to sell it even though I may be able to get a few hundred dollars for some pieces. (What if the gift giver would happen to come across it.)
I'm ready for all of your great brain waves! :)

My grandmother had a collection, some large, some small, some good or bad, just a mix with lamps on some of the more extravagant. I’ve tried to copy her in this house where I live. It looks amazing…..
First, post this as a new question!
The pieces that have value can be donated to a silent auction benefit. Maybe an antique or consignment store with upscale items might work. You should probably take them to the next city, though, if the person who gave you the piece might run across it locally.

quite a few people have qualms with gifts or articles that have been given, feeling guilty about getting rid of it, remember it is yours and you can do whatever what ever want with it.
I know, too. My car is so full of stuff from my parents' home that I truly do not need nor want. It is hard to part with some of it....and then there's all my stuff from 60+ years AND boxes of my 3 sons' school things. My plan is to go through the sons' things to give them just the "important" stuff....photos, report cards, awards....for Christmas. Yes, they'd rather have money, but that's not the point.

The amount of stuff that we accumulate over the years is quite amazing. We should just leave it all for the person(s) who have to "clean up after us" when we're gone. lol
I do have some totally useless things of no "value" to anyone but me. I also have an old trunk, into which I will place those things, with a note to just toss the trunk without even opening it. If someone opens it, they'll get a laugh and maybe finally get to know me better.

Funny you should mention "finally get to know me better". I actually started writing some notes and putting them in a binder. The first page says "Who Knew"? I'm sure that nobody does. They'll be shocked at what I really think and some of the things that have made me sad.
I have one of those "Grandma remembers" books that I've been working on. I gave my mom one to do for my kids. REALLY surprised me that she did it! Nice.
I wish they cared NOW and asked me stuff, rather than coming across it when it's too late to talk together.
