    Do you acknowledge Halloween, and, if so, how???

    My window boxes above the couch are filled with little goblins, pumpkins, ghosts, and such. There's candy corn and a jack-o-lantern that lights up by the door.  Some fall foliage her and there, and a witch hanging on the front door.  I like this time of year and the decorations of fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. 


    I never enjoyed the trick or treating, which my sons' father was all too happy to chaperone. Their costumes were simple...nothing too complicated for my ten thumbs or expensive for our budget. 


    I'm also hanging some "ghosts" whose handprints are my kids' from pre-school days.  :D

      I never used to,but I will now.Our beloved Susan died on Halloween.11:45 PM.31st Oct.2014.Sorry to be a killjoy Phyl.

        Hardly, Tommy. October 31 will always be a special day for you, and one that, I hope, will be filled with happy memories along with the sadness that will always be a part of it. Celebrate Susan!

         I like to decorate some!  I wish we had little kids come to trick or treat!  I always had a great time doing that as a kid!  Today there are so many weirdo's that kids can't enjoy it anymore!  Still I will put out pumpkins and ghosts  and like to see other decorations! Happy Halloween everyone!

          At my friend's this afternoon. She has the best stuff on her mantle! Her house smells like pumpkin spice (some aerosol she bought). :D

            Have some fun with it, Julie. You can probably download a cool carving to do...a wolf howling at the moon, or Dracula's face, or a haunted house. You print it, then tape it to the pumpkin, pin-prick around the design where you're supposed to cut, and go from there. VERY COOL!

            Ya know? I’ve never seen a bat until my parents put in a pool. While swimming in it, bats would swoop down for a drink…… I never have gone to the big bat release (or whatever you call it) but I understand it’s one of the largest in America…...

            You mean the Brazilian Freetailed bat release at the Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. It's something to see.

            No Bob,there are some in Aussie that recognize it,,we do not because i believe it is an american thing,,i have no idea what Halloween means,,it would be like you guys recognizing "Labor Day" in Aussie..you would not know why,,

              I've never researched the origins of Halloween...oh wait...my Humanities teacher shared it with us a couple of years ago. It's not originally American. I can't remember any other facts off hand, but I'll check up on it. DARN, I hate forgetting the good stuff!!!

                Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1.
