This would be an excellent question for a medical doctor, a general practitioner, (perhaps a nurse), a physiotherapist, a naturopathic doctor, a chiropractor. All of these people have years of training in anatomy and have also spent years in the field of medicine. Ask ALL of them and KEEP asking until you get an answer!

Sounds like she had keyhole surgery at age 51,maybe they just cleaned the knee out, sounds like the knee was okay for seven years..my guess is they will do a knee replacement at age 65,,in Australia doctors do not like to do a replacement until age 70,,as it only has a life span of about 15 years,,and they only want to do the operation once,,I had my hip replacement at age 55 and knee replacement at age 59,,i had a good doctor, most doctors would have told me to wait till 70,,i would suggest your mum try another Doctor>>>>>>>><<<<<<<<..
