    ALLERGY, or something more sinister?

A friend suffers from burning mouth and lips, difficulty breathing. She's convinced that (a) the Chinese pistachio tree, (b)recently pruned bushes, (c)various trees in her yard, (d) insulation, (e)sulfur, (f)chlorine from pool, (g)bleach from work, (h) dust masks, (i) Tide laundry detergent, (j) neighbor's orange trees.  is/are the culprit(s).

She's removed her trees and bushes, fired the pool service, replaced a partial wall, threatened Tide users, had insulation removed, written and called the owner of the orange trees to complain.

She's spent nights at both her brother's house or mine, hours in doctors' offices, as well as late night ER visits. I took her to one at 1:00 a m, she sent text messages from 2:30 - 5 a m less than a week later from the ER, and 4 days later at 5:30 a m.

Refusing the treatment suggested and finding each medication unsatisfactory after trying 1/2 of a 1/2 dose (if that much), she's been told to wait on allergy testing.

Trying to be supportive has become difficult for a number of reasons, and she speaks of nothing else besides other health issues.  One day she drove around just sniffing the air, and everywhere smelled like rotten oranges. She's a beloved friend, but I want to scream at all 93 pounds of her.

I think your friend is seeking attention, she needs to see a psychiatrist.

This person needs help, and not with her allergies....................

I'll guess that this has more to do with mental illness (hypochondria?) or some other mental issue. Having allergies is certainly difficult to track down and deal with, but this sounds waaaaaayy beyond that to me.

I would be curious to know how many prescription drugs this person is on. That can be a contributing factor to poor mental health, especially for people who keep seeking medical advice combined with doctors who gladly help "with another pill".

She really doesn't take anything consistently. As a registered nurse, she's knowledgeable, but also so petite, she's got little to fight disease. Called me at midnight last night. I feel badly for her...constant pain.

Sometimes those in the medical profession are the worst when it comes to taking prescriptions and especially for pain. It's what they believe in....they don't consider trying any other method of "cure". Whether true or not I don't know, but a nurse told me that doctors and nurses have always been among the highest users and abusers of prescription drugs....easy access.

Not this one. She will try 1/2 of 1/2 a pill and swear she had a bad reaction, never taking it again.

Called at midnight, talked for an hour, then came over to sleep. I left door unlocked and went to bed.

    You're brave.

Not really, although the dog must have slept through her arrival and departure

    I'm sleepy!

Helping other people is very wonderful indeed, until it becomes problematic to you and your household. Not your circus-not your monkeys! Time to wish your friend good luck and show her the door.

I think she had multiple chemical sensitivity,or not enough Vit E,or she's taking too many vit and supplements. And being that she's 93 lbs, she doesn't sound well nourished. She could be suffering from a  nutritional deficiency disease........or an auto immune disease.....or diabetes. And it sounds like she thrives on the attention from you, her brother, the e.r.....etc.

That'll be $ 100.  / per hour for my fee.   Ha hahahahaha.   ;-)

Really! You're a bargain at that price, MCM!

Would she be in position to see a health specialist in Capitan , New Mexico. Out by Ruidoso. I can tell you more if interested. I recommend this person.
