I put one on a few days ago about the murders in Tunisia, but apart from an answer from you Fish-O, Tommyh, Ben ,and Julie jh, There were not answers , just a couple of comments from mcm which as I said I found disrespectful.
I had heard people who had visited America say that they found the Americans didn't know much about world news, and weren't interested , I think that maybe true

I am different. I looked the subject up. I have been reading about the history of the area. It does not make me a better person than my mother, it only makes me a different person than my mother.
I imagine she has no idea that people died in Charleston for no reason what so ever.
I know my mom is a very good person. Difficult to take at times. What is important to me is not what is important to her. What is outrageous to me does not make a dent in her existence. The key is not to judge.
I look at Americans and think they only care about themselves. I live right next door and I have no desire to visit. I imagine the rest of the free world thinks that way as well. America is like my mom. They are not bad, they just don't really care if the subject does not pertain to them.
I don't want to be harsh as I have had my hands slapped this week, however, it seems to be a, "What's in it for me?" attitude and if the rest of the world doesn't get it they can just go and fly a kite. ... I am not saying every American person. It is how the country it's self is perceived.
Yes I see your point FISH-O, There are some people here in the UK who don't read or listen to much news, and yes that doesn't make them a bad person. I have found these murders in Tunisia particularly upsetting, partly because I have been to that hotel and same beach for two holidays. Also, yesterday saw the return of the first six bodies, flown back by the RAF, it was very dignified and respectful but very upsetting. Thank you for your kind words and thoughts x .
sorry this should have been a comment to my answer.

People die when they have to go. Senseless or non-senseless it is a fact of life. However, this mass killing is beyond the beyond. Pure hatred has no place in our existence.
The fall out of this crime effects many people who are trying to make a living as well as the family's and friends of the loved ones killed. One man-one gun. It is truly sick.
This crime did not kill only the people who are dead. It killed the living.
I have no idea why anyone would do that.
xo the Fish right back at you. This small part of reality is harsh.
Stupid harsh for no reason at all.
