I am fortunate to live in a neighborhood where nearly everyone is on a first name basis and each helps each other when there is a need. Most know what the others do for a living.

I live in a complex that houses a lot of ex-cons (like a second chance place). These guys quietly do what they need to get by. Some get a check of some sort. We all know who the drug dealers are and get tickled when the drug busts happen......

I live in a small village of about 600 people. I know about half of them by name , and I would say I know what about 200 of them do for a living.

On one side of me there are a couple of Cunnucks who are both vets & a little bit hippy.

On the other side they are retired.The old guy was a brickie.

The people over the back owned a seafood resturaunt in the CBD but he recently passed away from a brain tumor.
