I suppose a persons answer would depend on what side of the fence you came from or are on,,today i am law abiding,,but from the days when i was not,,i met some dogs of cops,,sometimes i was guilty, sometimes i was innocent,,i have visited the rubber room many times,,there is no law in there, and you are guilty whether you are or not,,So your answer from me is Yes and No,things are not always black and white,>>>>>>>><<<<<<<..

I've never been afraid but on the same side of the coin I don't like being around them. Comes from my earlier days whenever cops I came in contact with treated me like so much dog dirt. No respect for me, smart alec, discounting. However, now days I force them to listen when I need them.....

You would be afraid of the police if:
Someone in your family was killed when the police conducted a "no-knock" search warrant of the wrong address at 4:00 am.....
You could not get a fair trial because the DA, judge, and police all band together against you....
Your constitutional rights were taken from you by an aggressive cop who feels he is "boss"....
etc. etc. etc.
Yes, most police are good and do great things, but most of those good ones stand by and watch as the bad ones violate the law.
I am a law abiding person, but I also have done my research.

No,I'm not afraid! I don't get the connection of criminals and Democrats? Are you a Republican profiler by chance?

I have never been afraid of the police because I have never done any criminal acts to be afraid. I have been afraid when I am speeding. Hardly a criminal offense unless drunk.
As it's already been said here, those that run have reason to run, which in turn give police every right to suspect and give chase. I think it is terribly ignorant of some that blame police in every incident, where as the 'perp' has a gun or not, if they make a move which indicates a weapon may or may not be forthcoming, makes no difference, the police can not wait until this person fires first and can not take a chance that he's stupd enough to reach in his pocket for chewing gum.
Sorry, I back the police 95%-- 5% reserved for bad cops. And I put that ratio at 95%: 5 %. There's a bad apple in every bushel.
Incidentally, Please don't confuse 'ego trip with show of authority. One of the things they teach in police academy is the show of authority, for exaple, when taking down a perp, you will hear the agressive yelling to 'GET DOWN, HAND BEHIND BACK! DON'T MOVE!! Etc, this is to intimidate. Sometimes a cop will seem a bit agressive with you for no reason you can think of but the cop has a few of his own, you may fit a discription, you may have acted or drove erratically - In any event, he/she is simply letting you know who is in charge. I see no wrong in that as opposed to being a wuss and possibly ending up in an altercation because the cop was a nice guy.

Haven't had much connection with cops, but my town borders on the town where that cop named Melendez was beating a black man name Dent on the head for something trivial. It was all over the news, so I can use their names. The cop had already been removed from the Detroit police force and given a lateral move > > > here.
