When I was in the second grade we lived on a dairy farm in Indiana so there were lots of fat juicy flies. I will never forget the day my mother (who was only 21) made a pot of beans and left them to set on the stove top without a lid for a couple of hours before serving them for dinner. I took my first bite and noticed something crunchy and then another bite and another. Finally I asked her why my beans were so crunchy.  This is when she decided to inspect the beans and realized there were at least a dozen dead flies floating within the bean juice. YUCK!
