I'm presuming your income tax return for the USA. I don't know about your state tax return, but you'll likely need the same information for that as for the federal.
Gather all your tax documents: your 1099, 1040, expenses for medical, property taxes, charitable donations, education, social security numbers for yourself and anyone who is claimed as a dependent.
If you do not have more than a job for income, you can easily file for yourself, but if you have enough "stuff" to itemize your deductions, you might best be served by having a tax prep service, accountant, or CPA prepare the return for you.
THAT'S where I would start! A place like H & R Block should be willing to look at your documentation, ask a few questions, and tell you whether or not you can file by yourself, as well as give you good information on how to get started.

Our IRS system is ridiculous, and there is actually no federal law that mandates the necessity of filing and paying income taxes, unless it slipped by when I wasn't looking. It was supposed to be a temporary thing begun during WWII....let's see now, that was 70-odd years ago. We are so unorganized as a "community" of citizens who should be objecting on a mass basis of this unlawful garnishment!!!
We both know the best things in life can't be bought. Lots of good stuff, for sure, but not the stuff that makes us truly happy and content from within
