Just love it - years ago there was a funeral across the road with horses transporting the hearse - I asked the guy sitting on the carriage why the horse had his leg up - they were stationary at this point and he said - he is sleeping!

My dog does the ''leg thing", except when he does it, he's not sleeping!
    mycatsmom

birds sleep with one leg up, too . The other leg locks into place.

    YES!

I am all over the place on this, I was always a stomach sleeper until years ago when back Dr. told me to sleep on back, no pillows.  This worked for several years, but last few, I have been restless and toss and turn all night, back problem will not let me stay comfortable in one position.

I can not fall asleep until Roy comes to bed. He has a bad shoulder so he must fall asleep while on his right side. I snuggle up to him for approx 20 minutes and then I have to turn over onto my left side to get some relief from his body heat. As soon as I turn over onto my left side I fall asleep. However, I do wake up a couple of hours later because my hip starts hurting and at this time I roll over onto my back and fall asleep instantly. Unfortunately I snore on my back ( where I seem to be most comfortable) so Roy punches me in the stomach so I'll turn back over on my side and he can sleep.

    Good one sunnyB! lol

I move around until I finally accept that I will not get sleepy until I lay on my left side. I fall asleep and then have vocal conversations and sleep eat. No telling how I return to bed. Drives James crazy……...

jh, Do your meds give you bizarre dreams ? Mine do .
    jhharlan

Dreams, yes. Bizarre? No. I try to remember them but they rarely make sense…..

Mostly on my sides, but spend most of the night rolling around trying to find a good spot that is not too hot!

    Try Scotland.

How cold is it there now, Romos?
    ROMOS

0 degrees regular at the moment, costs a fortune to heat.
    clu

Very cold! Good thing you have a snuggle bunny! :)
    ROMOS

Snuggle bunny wears cuddle duds, even warmer ;)

Hi there ROMOS - the menopause helps with the cold problem. Hope you and C/B are good. It's been pretty cold here too, huh.

Depends if William will let me have enough room,

hector know the feeling. All my cats have been strays or left home - like the one I have from around the corner - they have other cats and when kittens arrived Kai took off 4years ago. A ginger cat strolls in has a bite to eat and goes but oh not he has taken to spend the night in bed with me. KAI no longer does since my other cats are no longer here - used to be two at a time. All my pets have spent nights in bed with me and I am afraid to move in case I disturb them. Animals and children are sacred - amazing. I would love a dog again and a pig would be good.

At my house, the green swatch would be a thin strip running from the top right about halfway, then making a bend to the left. This means I sleep on my right side, with my knees bent (so as not to disturb the cat). The dog will just put his head on my knees if I get in his way.

I sleep in every position, right side seems to be where I wake up in the morning. Sleeping in my spa is nice. Napping near a stream when fishing is restful. Meditation sleeping is usually very brief as is sleeping on a toilet seat. Sleeping at church was interrupted too often so I stopped going to church. Sleeping under a tree on a sunny day is pleasant. So now I think I'll take a nap.

    Yup...

Same as many others here......back, left side, right side, stomach and sometimes wide awake at 3am...4am...5am.....annoying!

    clu

    Yep! This is every night!

Me too but it's only temporary. I'll have a really good sleep one night because I'm exhausted. It's not healthy but at least I don't have to get up and go to work. :)

Uusually people sleep on the right side - The heart being on the left and I believe it is also to do with the amount of lung space available - I have a lapse of memory here again. I am all over the place wriggling around every which way - also partly to do with the brain not relaxing. However, I do have shoulder, back and neck problems - still have a fracture of my back since last year and have oesteoporosis. I like Julie use medication, but seem to be getting immune to the tablets.

    jhharlan

My mind never is quiet. I medicate and thus sleep like the dead.....

Starting on my back, then moving to the right side.  After a bit, I move back to my back, then to the left side.

THEN I chew a TUMS, and roll onto my stomach, with my left leg bent.  Then, I zzzzzzzz

    That sounds pretty awful.
    Bob/PKB

Worst part of it is that chocolate always gets to me. :0

Clonge you're on a roll! Great! Me back, then left side. Then right side. I'm a light sleeper so i'm aware when i'm sleep. (too bad in a way.) i'm a lucid dreamer too. meaning i'm aware of what i dream when i'm dreaming it. most of the time i remember my dreams. sometimes i don't.  sweet dreams.

    mycatsmom

    I'm a lucid dreamer too.

Yes all over the place ,but it doesn't  take me long to nod off.

When I was skinny , which was most of my life, I enjoyed sleeping on my stomach. Then, when I gained weight, b/c of my hysterectomy, I couldn't sleep on my stomach anymore. I miss that !

Now, I start out on my left side, which is the most comfortable for me. Then, a few hours later, after I come back from the bathroom, I lay down on my right side.
