I came across this article the other day. Mr. Brown may have had plans and potential, but he threw them, and his life, down the chute. His family and friends remember his good qualities, which he disregarded for reasons I'll never understand.
If this had happened to a young man I knew a couple of years ago, when he and/or a "friend" was sneaking into people's homes and stealing things, blatantly stealing from stores, fleeing from police (high speed chases that resulted in totaled vehicles), and using drugs more often than eating meals, I would have mourned the death of the "kid" he once had been. Knowing the behavior leading to his death, I would make no excuses.
THANK GOD, he's turned his life around, and is on a positive path! His family is thrilled to have "the kid" back.
