Someone who has the same cell phone provider (Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, Cricket, etc.) could call for technical assistance on their OWN cell phone and let the friend talk to the support person. If he can provide his phone number, secret code (that connects you to the business end of your cell phone), name, address kind of stuff, he may be able to get some help. OTHERWISE, he should take it to one of the provider's office asap.
