My small yard is officially dirt. I have a dog, Fresno has a serious water shortage, and the time and cost of creating a beautiful lawn, only to have the dog "christen" it, seems "preposterous". I can't justify the excessive water to get it going, either.
I got an estimate for a pet-resistant artificial turf today and am very interested in going this route.
The stuff has a 15 year manufacturer's warranty, is recyclable, safe and recommended for pet owners, and there is a "non-toxic" compound that absorbs the smell of urine/feces. Cleaning up after the dog would be simple.
Any thoughts? No mowing, fertilizer, watering...

Wow, I can't even imagine what a water shortage must be like and of course, with snow in the winter time here, "turf" is something unimaginable. I hate to see artificial turf along with miles of paved parking lots, becoming the "norm" in our countries but I guess it's an alternative that you have to consider. Have you spoken with anyone who has it?
