"The Best of Me", by Nicholas Sparks, was enjoyable. He is the author of "The Notebook", which was made into a highly successful film a few years ago.
The last James Patterson novel I read (Cross Country) was just a little too violent.
On deck is a small, locally published book about Armenian history.

just finished Iain (M) Banks's The quarry, not his best work (still highly enjoyable), but it was his last as he died of cancer just before its release. I have everything he has ever written plus i used to drink in his pub years ago. Ill miss his yearly releases :-(

This time of year I am too busy to get through a newspaper. So I go for the little flash clues that interrupt my thought stream to check out on line like this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1292843/Could-carbon-dioxide-injections-skin-new-secret-young-face.html and look for background info, etc. There are seven other background study areas that interest me as well. DNA codex and CDC database info. NASA-NSA-MIT-Lawrence Livermore, etc can offer in-sites on my interests. But Gov sites generally tend to track into trash heaps rather than give up the goods.
I do read parts of the Urantia Book and A Course in Miracles regularly and encourage others to read it too.
