I am a touch typist working on a laptop. I learned typing in high school because my other option was "Home Economics" and for me at that time....horrors! :)

Two fingers, i don't want to type faster than i can think. Using 8 fingers and two thumbs gives you eight times more the possibility of typing something that makes no sense, not to mention errors in spelling. I maintain the two finger method, if for any reason, just so my brain can keep up with what I am saying. Sometimes though, I must go to one finger if I had a couple drinks.

No, not at all, thanks to Mrs. Andrews, and her typing class in high school. I was in the "shop track" in high school, and ate up the math and science courses. They then moved me up to "business tract", and it included typing. One other guy was in that class. The teacher, retirement aged, Mrs. Andrews, would come and flirt with us. When it was typing speed test day, she always had a new paper for us, as we would screw up, and she favored us over the girls, and we started over. But I do type pretty well today, using all digits, with little or no errors, all due to good old Mrs. Andrews, thank you...

When using my tablet thing, two fingers would be twice as many!
With a keyboard, I'm flying with all ten, right around 80 wpm. ALWAYS go back and proofread. Sometimes the mistakes get by me, though. :(
(Ducky, I shied away from Home Ec, too.)

it's amazing how fast and accurate my dad typed with two fingers. He didn't know the touch typing method. He taught himself how to type and typed a lot of his business letters on a clunky type-writer. And that was before " word proccessors " - - --where you could craft a perfect letter on the screen and print it.

i took typing in junior high and shorthand in high school. i ended up testing at 50 words a minute. at age 22 i was typing a 48 page newspaper in san francisco once a week for year. that increased my speed to 72 wpm. i typeset at stanford university, brochures, forms and business cards etc. my favorite typewriter was IBM electronic selectric because of the touch of the keyboard. i owned two but gave them to some people that could not afford computers. now i use a laptop a lot. i am not in love with the touch factor, so i type on it with 2 fingers, like everybody else.
