shingles = an acute, painful inflammation of the nerve ganglia, with a skin eruption often forming a girdle around the middle of the body. It is caused by the same virus as chicken pox. Also called herpes zoster .
First of all, I believe you mean Shingles. It is part of the Epstein Barr virus Family which includes Chicken Pox, The Herpes Complex and Mono Complex etc. Shingles is more in the Chicken Pox family and like cousins to the others I have mentioned. It is a bit worse than those Pox though. You get Pox like marks but they are a lot more sensitive than a Chicken Pox. They also will only be on one side or the other side of your body. They hurt and itch at the same time but you don't dare touch them. You can get scars from them just like Chicken Pox. You feel really sick when you have them. You can have them inside of your body as well as outside, for example: in the mouth, nose, throat, etc. Be sure to contact your doctor if you suspect that you have this condition because there are some treatments available for Shingles and now there is a vaccine. A lot of people are suseptible to Shingles when they are under sever stress so you should always eat a balanced diet, excersise regularly and have a good sleeping pattern. If you think you are depressed in any way, I encourage you to tell your family doctor or general practioner so that he or she can point you in the right direction because that is quite normal in this day and age and seems to really trigger that Epstein Barr virus in many ways. Best Wishes
