    The distance around the rim of a round plate (circumference) is as follows:


    C = 2 x pi x r

    WHERE:   C = Circumference
    PI = 3.14159265359   (Use 3.14 for simplicity)
    r = radius (which is 1/2 the diameter, which is the distance from one side to the other.  For example, a 10 inch plate would have a radius of 5)

    The circumference of a plate tells how many inches around it is. The diameter tells how many inches across it is.

    Not all plates are round.
