My father may not have taught me, but was an extraordinary example of:
humility
generosity
integrity
the importance of thinking before speaking
putting stuff back where you found it
taking care of your stuff
your handshake or promise being as binding as a legal contract
making wise investments
following a dream
among other things. My dad was a pretty awesome guy. Would be 100 this month.

"Life is for the strong!" Stand up for what is right. Do your job like it is the most important job in the world. Respect others. Love your country. Love and look out for your family. Reseach something to the bare bone to find truth. My dad died last March 2013 from a blood clot in his right leg at 87 years old. He was the greatest man i ever saw or heard talk. Great orator.
