    Are citizens used as Jurors in other countries, as in USA? How are they selected?

    My jury duty was just cancelled, and it made me wonder about process in other countries.

    Yes, citizens are called upon for jury duty here in Canada. I'm not aware of all the laws regarding the selection. Serving jury duty, if selected, is required by law unless you can prove a very good reason for not doing so.

    Yes we have medical exemptions, with documentation of Dr. certificate. And we are fined, imprisoned, or sentenced to community service for not showing up.
