I'm 18 and I have a floater it just started today, sometimes it goes from a dark black fuzzy dot to a long thick black greyish bar and it is irritating haha. But I don't know if it is serious or not im young so its not aging problems?

You should see an opthalmologist. He/she is an M.D. and is more equiped to handle eye conditions than an optometrist.

I'm not sure if you need an Optometrist or a Gastroenterologist (Floater throws me off kilter). Please start by making an appointment with your eye doctor.  I know you are young but some of the diseases we associate with an older age can begin very early.

The only instance when you might need a gastroenterologist is if "your eyes are bigger than your stomach." An opthalmologist is a doctor whereas an optometrist is not.

There is nothing you can do. I have had them long as I can remember. Just get eyes checked every few years.  Don't worry about it. But do see a doctor to give yourself comfort in knowing more about it.

My sentiments as well. I've had them too, and have a prominent opthalmologist. He told me not to worry about them.
