I think b/c he didn't put periods at the end of his sentences, it took on a whole different meaning.
It appears to be a list, separating each item/word on the list with a comma. Probably didn't even NEED the "period" as this doesn't really qualify as an actual sentence. The only discrepancy I see is not capitalizing the "S" in "shoe".

Each word rhymes with its numeric position in the list , (e.g. ' Gun' rhymes with ' one ' etc.)
