Check their face. Has their mouth drooped?
Arm
Can they lift both arms?
Speech
Is their speech slurred? Do they understand you?
Time
Is critical. If you see any of these signs call emergency straight away.

A sudden, severe headache with no known cause, double vision, drowsiness, and vomiting are possible early warning signs of a stroke. Most of the people I have known who have had a stroke, have been unable to speak and move one side of their bodies. When my mother had one she couldn't speak or move at all, and she lived about four weeks, but I have had friends who have had them, and they spoke but not clear, and they were temporarily disabled. They are caused by either a clot touching the brain ,or a bleed on the brain. I had a bleed on my brain stem 13 years ago, I was lucky it didn't lead to a stroke,and I'm still here. It was a long time before I felt right again.
