Could be
Points, plugs, clogged fuel injectors, bad fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, engine is flooded from trying to start it, battery may not have enough cranking power. Address the possible fuel issues first. Very last possibility, the timing belt may have slipped. Thank goodness for mechanics. You may want to try one.
