Because you are using downloads from sites that are not linked to HP.

Go to HP's support site here http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-search.html?tab=2#/qryterm=officejet%204500%20printer&searchtype=s-001

Fill in your printer information select your printer or if it takes you straight to your printer's page, look for "user guides" on the page. Click it. Choose your language and click user guides again.

PS, make sure you uninstall all those programs you were asked to install to get no manual.

The same thing happened when I bought my GPS last Oct. It came with no manual & no directions. ......only a picture of a guy doing something on a computer. So, I had to down load the manual and it wasn't very helpful anyway. And my printer doesn't work. I also had to download the map of N. America. They do that so they can save thousands of dollars, thus increasing their bottom line. Sorry about the bold print, but I can see it better.
