what do u all think this statement means: never judge a book by it's cover!

because my aunt and grandmother told me that yesterday and i was like "what does that mean?"

I went to dinner once at a buffet restaurant.  There was a delicious looking slice of what appeared to be steak, with a light sauce and sauteed onions.  There was even BACON slices in the mix.  WOW!  This looks GRRREEEAAATTT, I thought, and took a slab.
It was LIVER.  I HATE LIVER.  IT TASTED HORRIBLE.  YUCK YUCK YUCK YUCK

So it is with not judging a book by its cover or a person by the outward appearance. What may look pleasing and agreeable at first glance can be something ugly and disgusting when you get up close and personal.

Just a couple of enrichment courses at the local community college. I graduated from a state college many years ago and don't really want to focus on another degree, though if I did, I'd probably focus on English (composition rather than literature)

to me literature in my school is very, very, very, vvvvveeerrrrryyyy BORING!

...could be because your teacher just goes "blah blah blah" and doesn't stimulate thought and discussion. I had to read "Beowulf" as a high school sophomore (never understood a word). I subbed at high school 25 years later and the lesson of the day was "Beowulf". Filled with dread, class started. I actually understood what I read and it was pretty exciting stuff. I shared the "translation" with the class at the end of each section we read. The class, glassy-eyed and disinterested at the beginning, were asking "WHAT HAPPENED NEXT!" and waiting anxiously for the reply. The teacher CAN make all the difference.
...on the other hand, could be your attitude toward the subject. ???
    nice, nice

nope! is the teacher she is very boring! the books that we read are very interesting but our teacher makes it boring! i love the books! btw, we are doing brown sugar and spice!

It often refers to people. They may look very beautiful but be nasty on the inside or be a wonderful person who is not quite so good looking. They may present themselves as honest but only because they want something from you. They may be seem unfriendly but are simply shy. It's always good to get to know people very well, before you decide "who they really are".

You look on the outside and see some of the things he's doing on the field that maybe you don't think are appropriate. But once you get to know him, he's a fierce competitor and, at times, maybe not your best qualities come out when you're trying to win.

    thanks! now i know!

Means I can dress up in my best and put on make-up but I’m still just me………..

it means whatever you are looking at,,do not judge it, until you have learnt more about it,,,,,,it goes with ,,,believe only half you see and none you hear,,,,,,,nice talking NICE!!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    nice, nice

    you're welcome!

It means , what you see is not always what you get. Or, people are not always what they seem to be.

It means don't form opinions about people based on the way the look ,or the way they walk, or their hair or make-up. Get your impressions about them by getting to know them on the inside.

get a few facts about something or somebody before you make a major decision about who or what they are or are not.

That's why I like Skype. I talk to people around the world and learn about their culture, politics, lifestyles and such and the most common thing I find is that we really are the same world around.
