Julie, Break up the room into alcoves ...
Take a dresser, paint and decorate the back side. You will have a divider.
You can put a chair in front of it.
I, like PL, am a decorator from waaaay back. Every Christmas I got a doll house. I must have been 14 when my mom stopped getting them for me. I move and move to different kinds of houses. I like to create beauty.
You love your Christmas tree. You can't keep it up forever but that is your cue to put a light source right where the tree is. Keep your lights soft. Don't have overhead lights except in the kitchen.
Paint one wall a color that you love. Get pillows that color. Use Philodendren in beautiful pots. (They're easy to grow) Everything must smell good. I spray my bedspread with a kind of expensive perfume. I made sure my man liked the smell first. It's really a nice touch.
Is your kitchen in that one room? If so, don't do the bedspread trick.
Paint the inside of your cupboards soft purple. Big job. I've just seen it done. Use a candle on the table. Pick a bouquet EVERY day. Take a little walk and borrow some flowers from your neighbors. Make Gingerbread.
I always do that before my grand daughters arrive. I want them to remember this house in a really pleasant way. Sense of smell is the strongest for making memories. Oh, I wish I could see your one big room. I've always wanted to live in a place like you have. Make it beautiful.
I love to go to motels and use my imagination to redecorate it.
I was on my way to take a computer class. And here I am! I have NEVER written sooo much. I either really like to tell people how to decorate their homes or I REALLY DON'T WANT TO TAKE THE DAMN COMPUTER CLASS.
I will try to learn how to photograph a couple of my walls so you get the idea. Don't hold your breath.

The Fish sent me a site as what to do with them, maybe I’ll try it. Right now I just collect; pick them up when I find them, making others drinking from cans “cough up”…….
