    my son applied for a student loan. He got turned down due to a bad credit rating, which is due to myself. Is there any other options open to him as we have tried the access to learning fund and was not allocated enough to cover the rest of his course.

    sharon, I think you should clarify this credit rating situation with the loans people asap.  Also if you have mended your rating and it's good, approach the rating agency for correction.  What I  cannot understand is how does your rating affect your son.  He should be clear and on his own.
