    8 holes with a diameter of 12mm are drilled on a plate. if the holes are spaced 6mm apart and there must be 10mm on each end, how long a plate is needed?

    158mm, if you drill from one end to another....like a plank
    10mm x 2 for the ends  = 20mm
    6mm between 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 3 and 4, 4 and 5, 5 and 6, 6 and 7, 7 and 8  =  7 x 6 = 42mm 
    12mm x 8 holes = 96mm
