I never trust a bloke who tries to break your hand. It's an attempt at intimidation when they do that.A firm handshake whilst looking you in the eyes projects sincerity. You can also get the types who shake your hand firmly enough but they are looking over your shoulder at the same time. These guys have something they don't want you to recognise in their eyes. Then there are the ones who want to hang onto your hand for a long time.they are the ones who aren't really interested in what you have to say but want to be sure that you heard what they have to say. Then there are the limp wristed "Hello sweetie" handshakes. No comment on them.LOL.

Interesting Tommy. I do know a man who shakes hands like that and for sure he does try to intimidate. I used to see him often, in a group setting, and men would grimace with the handshake. That seemed to me, to cause him some delight! Ugh.

hey Tommyh old mate,,i knew there was something about you i liked,,your on the money mate,,,,,,

Haha! Just tellin' it like it is,Terry.

First impressions stay with a person for a long time. A firm handshake and direct eye contact are important factors if you want to appear confident and friendly. I believe that goes for both males and females. Personally, I am turned off by a flimsy handshake from either.

    LOL! Ok hector...you'll be forgiven.

I usually judge a man by the state of his shoes, I hate dirty shoes.

    Are you ex military Dave?
I am, and I detest dirty footwear.

No not me Roy, but both my brothers were, one in the Navy and the other in the Airforce, so they were a big influence on the way I was bought up, clean tidy and polished shoes.Oh and always walk on the outside when walking with a girl.

He's a gentleman then cb. make the most of it There are not many of us left you know.

Yes. If his handshake isn't firm and dry, he has an uphill battle to gain my confidence and respect.

I took it to mean "mankind" as in human beings. I shake hands when I meet people and a limp handshake from a male or female, is a turn off to me.

No too many factors determine who we really are.

Yes, I do.......very much.Their handshake isn't something I start out to notice, but when it feels like a  cold, dead, limp fish, you can't help but notice. Or when it's crushing, adn I have on one or two rings with wide bands, I could just cry from the pain. A lot of these kids and teens should be taught how to shake hands, b/c they barely extend their hand, and then it's half curled and pointing downwards. They don't grasp your hand.

And yes, the look in his / her eyes and eye contact is very important.... Someone said the eyes are the window of the soul.

A man's strength is in his tenderness.

that is only with a woman witchway..thanks for your input......................

I believe that tender moments can relate to other things in life and not just in relation with women. And your welcome for the input.

your point is well taken Witchway, and i do agree in some way,,but i was looking for more of a mans answer,,i have my answer, i was looking for another,,but always willing to chat with you ,,,,,,,thank you,,,,,,,,,,,,

Not completely, of course, but those are two things that help provide a first impression.  If a man can't look me in the eye when he says hello and offers a handshake that is sweaty and limp, it's not a good start.  I SERIOUSLY don't like a phony handshake.
