Yesterday I called an old friend just to catch up - a social call. The call almost immediately went to her intense anger over the politics of the United States. I do understand how upset people are. I'm upset and worried too.
I'm not as opinionated as she is and I felt like she was attacking me PERSONALLY. My husband could hear her voice from clear in another room. She shouted.
I hate to lose her friendship. I have always been aware of her politics but I've never had an experience like this with her.
Do you think she's gone kinda nuts? Maybe I should just stay clear of the phone and not call her and check who's calling before I answer the phone. This would only be until I recover ... and she does. (If she does)
She said her TV channel is the only place to get the truth. Other channels just lie. (Guess I'd better give up The Big Bang Theory : ) )

Some people are just very passionate about politics, especially today with the currant state of division and the continuous lies from the Obama administration, including many from Obama himself. People are scared, worried, confused and angry and listed to too many news sources, many of which who back the lies of the currant administration. I think she's lost and does not know which way to turn for leaders who can actually help us out of this mess. TV media like FOX news, MSNBC and CNN are no help. She needs to start by contacting her state representatives. She has to let them know how angry she is that they helped create this mess. Yelling at you makes no difference. It will not change a thing. I do not think she is insane, I think she is scared and because of that has trouble keeping her anger and fear in check. Many Americans who are aware are fast becoming like your friend. Unless things change here in the states soon, they will be the people we see marching in the streets. She should stop abusing her friends however. ;)

I do know things are a mess. I couldn't remember why I voted for Obama and she was irate that I had done so.
I thought McCain was way too old and I personally didn't like or trust the Wasilla Woman. (Now I remember ... Well, it doesn't make much difference.)
The long-time relationship may be over. You helped and I'll just let things cool off a bit. She does have insanity in her family ... her mother.
I honestly did not expect an answer. It seemed impossible to relate to.
The three of you are all BEST ANSWERS, of course.
p.s. and now four. Thanks, Daren :
By their agenda , whats on their minds what are they up to...A persons sanity is based on their agenda..at least in my opinion..!

Breakfast
Look up Doppler Effect, Bernadette and others on Big Bang Theory, Best way to brush teeth, Best tooth brush, I pad mini, T Party, KKK, Obama Care, Doctors in my town, Pepper Blaster II, Concierge doctor cost, Smart Mouth & Rinse, Eye glasses (What's currently in style) Look up Parenthood and find out if it will run another season, Codelaine on you tube <--spelling, Possible Republican candidates
And then; Go to Pier I and pick up gifts.
I left out housework stuff.
Does my agenda show sanity? I'll do housework and stuff like that.
That was fun ... didn't know what was on my mind. I would have probably forgotten a lot if I didn't have a record.
I am just curious about how KKK can even be?!
People are really becoming angry and some obviously stepping into the next level of going insane with politics. I personally am on the angry side of insane but i wonder sometimes what would push me over the edge. Fortunately, I am not a violent person and I am 'somewhat' reasonable when dealing with same. As Colleen pointed out, there's so many lies from the Obama administration, the media coverups, its enough to make the Dalai Lama lose his mind in anger. The American 'thinking' people are upset, even the people on the left that are reasonable are upset. At this time, I would excuse your friend and anyone that seems different, especially in politics. At one time, we elected politicians to do our arguing, now they sit around, cause shutdowns, run up the deficit and pass stupid bills and collect pensions for life. We do the thinking but are so divided with the lies that we may never clean it up.

easy comeback.. "how do you know since you don't watch??
nails them every time.
I like how you threw a little humor into this HORRIBLE situation that I am in (That we ALL are in) Mercy!
hi itsmee,,your friend is yet to learn.whoever gets elected will have lied to get elected..dont worry we have different politics to you in Aussie,, but believe me they are the same...for all my 60 odd years ,,i have seen liberal and labour go in and out of politics,,,and my country is not in a better or worse position for its troubles,,when it comes to voting i have a simple method.because i can not prove when they lie,in my country liberal is for the bosses and labour and unions is for the worker,,,so put the bosses in power and their own greed will make them expand their business which will require more workers to run it..and the labour and unions should be on the floor negotiating proper wage increases for the worker,,,,and here is something interesting,,i have just returned from a holiday in Europe. and i met 2 Americans and became friends, they both came from oppisite ends of politics..we debated and discussed politics from both countries however i believe in a 2 horse race,,whoever gets over half the votes wins,,at least that means whoever wins gets over half the support of the nation,,sorry about being longwinded,,but not an easy subject to explain,,,,,,,,,,,

It's too bad this happened. It was a wake up call for me. I'm going to put my nose in the news a little more.
You me two Americans from opposite ends of the political spectrum -- that would make a fun party ... NOT. Ha.
I'm a two-horse race kinda person myself.
Your friend's distress may have nothing at all to do with politics. There are so many things in life that are frustrating and out of our "control", politics just being one of them. Being powerless in so many facets (you know much of my story), it could just be that your friend has centered all her frustration on something of which many of us can relate.
I don't know if I'd have the energy to dig into a friend I was willing to avoid, but if you do, you might say something about what else is going on in her life. It may open the door to what is actually tormenting her. It's hard to believe a tirade like you've described originated from politics!

It's strange but just THIS MOMENT I think I have figured out the puzzle that is her. I believe there might be more involved in her "attack"
Writing is GOOD therapy. You're a smart girl!
How are YOU doing? I'm going to check later to see if my email is fixed.
2 days later
It may be that she's a barker and growler and I just howl at the moon. Obama Care. Scary.
