Things You'll Need
Water
Liquid dish soap
Superfine steel wool
Cloth
Instructions
1
Plug your sink.
2
Fill the sink with hot water.
3
Add several drops of liquid dish soap to the water while the faucet is still running. Use the type of liquid dish soap that is meant to cut through grease.
4
Put the stainless steel pan into the soapy water.
5
Let the pan sit for at least one hour. This gives the soapy water time to penetrate and loosen the carbon stains and buildup.
6
Scrub the carbon stains with superfine steel wool. Do not use any tougher abrasives as these will likely scratch the surface of the pan.
7
Re-soak the pan for another hour if the carbon stains don't come off. Scrub the remaining carbon stains off.
8
Unplug the sink and let the water drain from it.
9
Rinse the stainless steel pan with warm water to remove the soap residue.
10
Dry the pan thoroughly to prevent watermarks or streaks from drying on it.
