'Piano Man'. for me, not only a great singer and songwriter but a great human being, i remember when i saw him live at an open concert many moons ago, he picked a girl from the audience to come up on stage with him, unlike other singers he did not pick a 'Dolly Bird' but a a little overweight girl, i admired and respected Billy Joel after that, a true entertainer.

I am with Dondarling on this one. I have not one single favorite Billy Joel song.

I wish not to think about any Billy Joel song as it will become stuck in my head. At the moment I have a very old Elton John song stuck in my head that has replaced an Abba song ........... sad and true facts from Fishlet Land.

Ezra and I are going to listen to the Who, Quadrophenia now.

I love that one. He came into a local strip club, that my cousin bar-tended at, sent his security in to see if they would let him go in without any notice. The cousin rounded up the girls and warned them to show no attention, or get fired. He stayed for an hour, as his boat was repaired across the street, that night. On the way out, the D.J. (another cousin) played Piano Man, as he was leaving, and he waved in appreciation for how his wishes were met...

Yeah, and the boat was his fishing sloop named after the daughter. It was acting up on his way to Block Island, and he detoured into Providence Harbor.

The one about the fishing trawler, reminds me of my father, who was a fisherman dragging nets around for about 40 years or so. A hard life and makes no living today as back when I was a kid, before they over-fished the resources. He brought home $500/week in the '50's, (big money for that time).

Bustie, my dad brought home $45. a week in the 50s when I was a kid. My mom didn't work outside the home.

And the tough life of a fisherman on a family caused a divorce, with my mom on welfare with 6 kids. So all that money really was unimportant, in the big picture.
