    Blueberries taste like...

Am I the only one who considers fresh blueberries to taste like...nothing ? Strawberries and raspberries, on the other hand, explode with flavour when properly ripened but the small blue things just don't taste like anything to me. Just a seedy, pulpy blah. Maybue it's just me.

Not talking about pie filling or jam. Just raw, fresh blueberries.

blue berries taste so yummy ! In the summer, my mom used to give each of us a small dish of local blue berries with sugar on them! slurp. They weren't pulpy or mashy .

Juicy, they taste like fruit. They are great on their own or mix with batter and baked or skillet cooked (as in pancakes). They have a taste of their own.

ONIONS in my blueberries? Oh, I just can't! :(

"Someone" placed one in my drink a few weeks ago, I thought it was a cider flavoured olive, most odd, don't like them personally.

    So it's NOT just me.;-)

If you buy them at the grocery store, then yes, they are tasteless. If however, you buy them at a farmer's market or a roadside stand, delicious. I think the difference is the same as it is with most fruits and vegetables....the fresher the better. I used to pick them and they are best within the first 2 days.

I buy them at the grocery but I also get my raspberries and strawberries there. I'll have to stop by a roadside vendor and hopefully discover the taste that I've been missing.

Make sure you wash the "road dust" off first or you might still be disappointed. :)

This has become WAY too complicated. I'll stick to strawberries.

    That's it. Keep it simple...

Sometimes you get a basket that isn't very flavorful, but when you get a basket of plump, RIPE blueberries, they have a smooth pulp and a sweet flavor.  They aren't always as flavorful as other berries, but when they are good, they are very, very good. The bluer, the better:

They don't have the pop other berries have, but they're good for us. I am ok with them on cereal, oatmeal, in pancakes and cobblers. A good basket has ones you can eat all by themselves. You aren't obligated to love them, only me.

    They are good for Diabetus,

That's what my doc said too.

    ...but are they tasty?

And help to prevent cancer too!
