Unfortunately, I have to do it the hard way too and then I wonder why people won't listen to my advice! LOL!

No kidding! (I looked it up. "Insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.") Totally agree with you!
I tell you what seems to help me a lot, I allow my days events or happenings to wash over me in a casual way as possible, unless urgent, and try to pay them little or no attention as possible and then my mind brings them back to me, its weird sometimes it is like an auto switch in my quiet times for analysing and storage into my memory
