Hi! I am a french citizen who studied in the UK and lived in the UK for 8 years so i am bilingual and travelled alot so I am a very open minded guy.

my qualifications and previous jobs are as a buyer and director of an Import /Export company. I am bloody fed up with living in france and seriously consider if possible relocating in GTA. As it seems quite difficult to do anything from here, my plan is to go to Canada on a tourist visa and poke around in order to find a job contract there and obviously come back to france while the paperwork is beeing processed. So now I would like that as many of you as possible give me an opinion about this. Thanks a lot!

Your introduction has some run-on sentences, punctuation, and capitalization errors, not to mention a rather negative overtone.  Because of these things, we had to chop you.

No, wait, that's a TV show....  Forget the chopping part, and believe the rest of what I said.  The idea of traveling to a place you might want to reside in permanently is a god idea.   Make sure you have a good resume and positive attitude.

    A God idea?
    Never read that one.

Yeah, it's a good idea, in my opinion. I am not one to just pack up my stuff and move, sight unseen, somewhere. Call me old, old-fashioned, scared, or whatever; It doesn't make sense to ME to move someplace without financial security. My ex sometimes talked about us moving. Fine, as long as we have a place to move into and he has a job to support us...I moved HERE for him and he didn't support our home for 15 years. It was all on me. I don't go someplace without some security.

I'm just trying to enjoy the site. I gave up computer games for lent so don't want to jeopardize my time here. I'm sure there's no animosity on her part and certainly none on mine. We simply see things differently most of the time. Of course, I'm closer to the right answer more often. :-D

You are too forgiving, don't trust anything that comes out of her fingers.
    Believe me.
Not a big deal on the face of things, this is just a silly wee site, but she has hurt a few people roundabouts.
This comment will self destruct in 50 mins.

I would suggest that before you decide to hop a plane with the intent to enter Canada and find a job, you might want to do some serious reading in regard to Immigration and Employment. It may not be quite as easy as you think. We have a few rules and regulations.

MCM...we seem to be headed that way too. We must all be welcoming, friendly and helpful to everyone. Meanwhile, many come here and immediately start complaining about Canadians! :(
    Bob/PKB

Thanks for posting that reference site, Ducky. I am weary of people racing across the border to have a baby, automatically a US citizen by birth...seems to me there should be a little more to it than that.

Interesting item on tv, just this morning. A man from a European county, came to Canada and is complaining that he cannot find a job here, though he's been looking for (in his words) "several years". Well guess what? He had to say that, through an interpreter because he cannot speak a word of English!!! He also stated that he finds Canadians to be very prejudiced. Sure, THAT'S why he can't get a job I guess? Makes me crazy.
    Bob/PKB

Send him southwest. California has so many languuages, it's ricockulous. There are close to 100 in Fresno alone. He'd have a job here in two days. It's those who are English speakers having the problem getting a job.

    Yep.

Sorry, all jobs in Canada are spoken for. You may want to try your luck picking fruit or veggies in California or Florida. We know you're fluent in English and Francais, but, how's your Espagnol ?

Don, I had a summer job counting night crawlers and placing them in Styrofoam containers for all our local fisherman several years ago when the minimum wage was $ 5.15 per hour. As silly as bagging worms may sound, we were paid by how many containers we could fill in an hour (instead of min wage). I never averaged below $10.30 per hour and though this may not seem like much money to most people, this came in very handy for a single mother only toting a GED and having a small child at home to raise. Thank you, Ducky. (*~*)

Hi, this is a general question and answer forum. We do not do job placements here. Who is it that you want to send this to? I'll see if I can find their contact details.

Hi Colleen and thanks for your answer. however, I am not too sure about what you mean.Right now i don't know to whom i want this question to be sent to. My opinion is that I might have a chance with call centres or something similar but I do not know if this is a possible or not. You might be able to help. Kind regards

Sorry, I really do not have any ideas. I live in the USA where only the illegal aliens get the jobs now. I do not know about Canada.

    Good one,Colleen ;-)

I believe that French citizens can work in Canada, at least in the Francophone parts. You could contact the Canadian embassy in Paris for info on immigration. Being bilingual should help your search.
