I am locked out of my gmail account, and am trying to reset the password. Since my Droid is not working and will be taken for a new battery later today, I can not receive gmai'sl instructions by texting. I gave gmail my alternative email account which is, I believe,sfk@gmail.com. The problem is that it has been a long time since I used it. Please tell me how to access it.

If it has been a long time since you used your alternative e-mail account then it probably does not exist anymore. Inactive accounts get deleted as abandoned accounts.
If resetting the password through the Gmail program does not work, then I can not give you any more suggestions. Those are the only two ways that I know of to reset an e-mail password. Gmail support will tell you the same. You have to answer the security questions (from clicking on "forgot password" or have the account linked to an active e-mail account.
